except that it's a supermarket that all the hottest and coolest people go to
    like a costco nightclub

  5. renard_vMay 5th, 10

a lot of good ideas here, but as it's been mentioned, a lot of it just seems to come and go with little direction, but instead with each track standing still. if you could listen to a single-file line of people at the supermarket, it's kind of like that.

good sample choices, good sounds… just not enough happening here. with a bit more direction and evolution in each piece, this could be something really special. keep at it.

  6. vaervafApr 26th, 10

so write a weel review then

    TL;DR
Good stuff, Vaervaf. I'm proud of you. Your amazing tracks are as amazing as ever, and your filler tracks are more detailed, but that just makes them even more of a cocktease. Can't wait to hear that remix album with all those extended mixes from your past albums.

    Blah.

Oh wait that was long too. Uh.

    TL;DR
    Cool

  10. vaervafApr 26th, 10

i get the award for most paragraphs in album comments

  11. Breakmaster CylinderApr 26th, 10

Off this album? VIKING GIRLFRIENDS GO STABLES!
I wanna remix that as well, I think.
Off any album? Irish Ritual Suicide Danceoff.

I listened again today and would've liked to hear more Girl Untitled and Knuckle Drag Racing as well. But you know, I also saw less a need for extending everything just cause people think songs should be longer. I quite like the album how it is I think.
Really like Oppenheimlich & Operation Rescue also. Not as candidates for extension, just liked.

  12. fragutApr 26th, 10

I appreciated this album much more during my second playthrough.

Nothing really to say about Akimbo. Peck was pretty but nothing really happened or developed in it. I grew to like Wayfarer's a lot. I don't really like gradual, fade in intros but starting quietly still sounded nice.

The dynamics on Operation were very nice and chilling. Swelling voices are hot. Collar was a miss. I enjoyed Window Seat. It reminds me of traffic and riding home with hyper busmates. Talibrarian didn't lack dynamics and wasn't bad (but I did notttt like it).

Too lazy to do the rest. I hope you really do that extended mix album thing.

  13. MegaWatt ManApr 25th, 10

They are enjoyable, but what ruins it is that they are too short.

  14. vaervafApr 25th, 10

and i understand the too short thing. for a future album im gonna work on an extended mix album thing where I remix and develop my old songs

  15. vaervafApr 25th, 10

    nothing new
    what
    it's sampling
and why'd you edit out the part about enjoying it
i think it's just that my filler has more detail now and people expect it to be longer than a minute
and I HAVE been fading out a lot compared to my old stuff where it just stopped and went to the next track

  16. OrangyApr 25th, 10

I'd like to see expanded mixes of:

Window Seat – So much potential for a nice bouncy beaty song.

Why Pay More – Didn't use source to it's full potential. Play around with Johnny Cash vocals?

Adalbert – Really like the sound of this one, please extend!

Gundam Callejas – Really nice song, but suffers from the same cocktease disease your other songs had on this album. Make a nice little climax, wrap things up nice.

Real and Straight – Potential for a nice little melancholy song.

Fidget Adartho – This song would be incredible if you had a breakdown, or just a part where a steady beat really kicks in. Srsly.

  17. vaervafApr 25th, 10

if you could pick one track to get an extended mix, what would you pick

  18. Breakmaster CylinderApr 24th, 10

There are some really good little worlds on this album. The songs have texture and present themselves and then… you know.. goooo awayyyyyyy…
Who has time for an attention span anyway.

As with all your albums, this is good on headphones. There's always little things to listen for. And YES! to classical music sampling. This is happening now.

  19. archaonApr 24th, 10

I really liked this album, from watching you from your initial ytp-esque days, you have grown into a very talented and inspiring musician, some of your pieces were a bit short and obscure, which is a little bit of a turn off, but is also reminiscent of some of the work of Boards of Canada, this album has a climbing and falling demeanor. some songs were hit, some miss. i especially enjoy operation rescue and oppenheimlich. I see lots of room for improvement, because some songs simmer out before they get a chance to fully develope. but overall this album gave a lot of content and creativity.

    8/10

  22. Stuart Robert FoyApr 23rd, 10

Pretty weak. It's a shame, I was looking forward to this.

  23. CyberAlyApr 23rd, 10

There's not quite as many instantly likable tracks here, but when I can be bothered to sit down and listen to it beginning to end, i'm sure i'll appreciate it more. As it is, it's more of what i'd expect from you, and as always it's very good.

  24. baklvonApr 22nd, 10

    I like this.
as for your disappointment, i see where that's coming from, however there is an excellent amount of potential for more progression (which is what i think it lacks) within each track.
nevertheless, i enjoyed listening to it and downloaded the zip file. keep it up and notify me when you release some more stuff.

  25. StopDropAndROFLApr 22nd, 10

i just tried downloading this and firefox crashed so that must be somehow symbolic

  27. mrSimonApr 22nd, 10

For me, disappointing. About half the tracks established a sample, played around for a little bit, then faded out just as the tracks beginning to get warmed up. This ones nothing but half-baked riffs for me.

  28. MegaWatt ManApr 22nd, 10

This stuff is not bad. Nothing really new but enjoyable.
