In My Court
Sawtooth

Taking a (very) short break from posting albums for a bit. I have a new complete release all prepped and ready to go, but I don’t wanna spread myself too thickly. (Plus I’m accepting an internship in radio that will probably keep me pretty busy, but shouldn’t have a massively negative impact on my ability to produce.) In the meanwhile, I’m engaged in a project with one ThePowerPlumber, from the MS Paint Adventures forums. He’s in the midst of running a Team Fortress 2-themed text adventure, and for the occasional flash movie he has requested me to provide a soundtrack. (Which basically entails remixing the theme songs of each class.) As a fan of TF2 I simply could not resist.

Several tracks have been produced thus far, and one is currently available as a preview:

The $400,000 Slot – Also available to download.

Will the final product see a release on BreakBit? I’d like to think so. We’ll see how many tracks I end up producing for it.

In the meanwhile I heartily recommend you check out ThePowerPlumber’s interactive text-piece, entitled You Are Heavy Weapons Guy. It’s a very funny read, and fans of TF2 should certainly get a kick out of it.

Cheers.

spinefold update + another preview
Vaervaf

me starring at the sky on grandpa's boat in boca grande. my mom wont stop taking pictures so ive kept this face on whenever she has her phone out haha. my grandpa is a pimp

I’m in florida for the second time this summer hahahha this iPhone makes me type very formally. Rockin one very tiny bar in terms of signal out here at granpa’s estate but I’m slouching in my chair so idk
ok there, 3g is back
so anyway, recorded the promo for the next album last
night. I have a cold so my voice sounds pretty weird
I was tryin to type weird and the iPhone autocorrected it as weed hahahha what the
the cat here loves me.

makin songs is hard

Anyway uh album 8: I feel like I’m following a pattern now, because corkvein felt a lot like skidtooth and going into my next album I feel a lot like when I did making Weaveknee – kind of a “this album isn’t gonna be as good as the last one hahah” feeling, so I make up for it with a lot of fucking around. I have a cute set from time to time but it’s mostly straight wonky ass organics or awful pitch and eq bass play idk. Corkvein is the best thing I’ve ever made. At least it wiped skidtooth out of my memory. Skidtooth sucks and is unlistenable, my new nostalgia favorite is weaveknee. I was so adventurous back then hahahahjah. and boring and awful but hey.

some hot girl said I needed to change shit up in corkvein reviews that’s cute. Now I recognize that Sig var, clock radio and drywire are the same song with the same method – easy sets with sprinkle groan detail regular sinatra bullshit with more detail, but shit I did real VOCALS for the first time with the bmc remix, slapped together a five minute long multiset god killer with regional champs, and composed (ya I went there. I composed that shit) rob’s last mag with my sisters broken guitar, spitting into a microphone and facerolling the vinyl effect in abelton. im not making excuses just telling you all the new stuff I did. innovation haha

***one hour of actually working on music later and then waiting to go to the library where there is wifi***

i’m pretty sure this is the only new thing i’ve put together since i arrived at florida that actually has some stopping power, but it’s a gud new direction. this is a slow song I made last night unfinished preview for my gratest fans

It’s really really slow and not very stimulating and I like it that way is that cool with you?

I haven’t made a song like this in such a long time and it still has a way to go. I feel compelled to extend and develop the shit out of every solid set I find since I realized how short and bitchy flarehand songs were and started making castles in corkvein haaha, so currently I’ve just got a lot of backbone sets for the next album and I still need to go back and develop into acceptable songs. Pretty much the same way I made Corkvein – adding a little bit to each song every day (wristband gait used to be even MORE plain can u believe it).

oh and i play the drums in spinefold. it’s really funny

instead of buying a real microphone system I bought an extra skateboard am i dum or what

my skateboard

OH AND

for my tenth album I might just do a bestof clipshow full of remixes and stuff so now might be the time to make vaervaf remixes if you want a piece of my incredible popularity (im talking to you renard you could use a boost)

My first ‘gig’
mrSimon

This last 6 weeks, I’ve been working hard on a mental set to lay down at my pal’s birthday party! It was packed, and people digged it hard, even raving at some of my harder tracks! Certainly, the single greatest moment in my music history I’d say!

It was tons of fun, I was totally surprised people dugg the unknown stuff, even had a number of people who have been to many clubs around the world, telling me I was the most entertaining DJ they’ve seen.

You can listen to the set above. Unfortunatly its the DJ output only, no crowd or anything!

Also, you can grab just the original tracks I played on the night, on my SECRET NEW ALBUM, “mrSimon @ Wenfest 2010″. Click the album artwork above to check out the album!

In the afternoon, I also played some music but it quickly turned into its own set, with a dedicated crew of people jazzing right out to some classic garage. Check that out too if you fancy, by clicking here!

And lastly, after the big main set at about 1am, I was requested to play some more tracks. I was mashed, but I played for another half hour or so. You can check that out here too (by clicking here) if you particularly fancy.
