Digital Illusions -- Pinball Dreams Introduction

[Audio clip: view full post to listen]

Insert disk, and this is the music you hear immediately hear. One of the most epic tracks I’ve ever heard on the Commodore Amiga. From the moment this music starts, diving straight into a dark sting, and emurging glorious and triumphant, the game’s got you gripped and it wont let go. If I were playing an adventure game, I would be totally crapping my pants right now. However, it just so happens this is a Pinball game… so I’m only pissing them.

Pinball Dreams is a straight up pinball simulation, containing 4 varied pinball tables. “Ignition” seemed a bit empty for me really, no rails, so sucked balls. “Steel Wheel” was a bit too mental for me too, often make the ramp, but it’d shoot the ball right back into play. “Beat Box” was my favourite when I played this game on the Commodore Amiga, however now on the iPhone, I always come back to “Graveyard”. That seems to be the most well rounded table out of the lot.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1kQ2AEdJ6c

In addition to the kick-ass music throughout the game, the game itself is great fun. Its quick and snappy pick-up-and-play gameplay, that doesn’t let itself become too complex. Theres depth to the game if you choose to focus, building your multipliers, and gaining various bonuses from around the bored. Its also in my opinion, the best classic game conversion on the iPhone. The reason I feel it works is that the touch controls have a kind of context. I find the portrait view awkward, with any iPhone app really, however you turn it on it’s side, and it feels more like playing a pinball table.. Only with thumbs rather than fingers. Still, your hands are on either side of a ‘unit’, and you’re triggering a button push.

In my opinion, the iPhone version of this game kicks the Amiga’s ass. If you’re after a game to pass the time rather than fill it, grab this for iPhone. It suits the ‘portable game’ formula perfectly, whilst retaining the qualities that made the Amiga original great… ok, the ‘quality’, its music!

Although its not Pinball Dreams, another noteworthy Amiga mention for its surprisingly bad-ass music is Captain Planet and the Planeteers. The game itself isn’t good enough to make it on my top 40, but I keep finding myself rocking the shit when I hear it.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5kv-LSDy0g

Or, maybe its just that stupid biased nostalgia thing. The game itself was absolutely terrible, with no clear indication of what to do, painfully slow world physics, and bad level design, it was a brain-teaser just trying to play the game. Perhaps thats why it was so addicted… although the fact it was bundled with Amiga’s back in the 90′s doesn’t affect that at all! Oh no!

Kinky -- Cornman (Hosted by Avvv.net)

[Audio clip: view full post to listen]

In an industry currently dominated by Wii minigame-ware and Xbox bald-marinee-ware, we hardcore gamers were after something a little more traditional, particularly the Sonic and Mario crowd, wishing for a game which returned to gaming roots, good old school platforming fun. Well, one adorable little character vowed to bring it back, and it was neither Sonic OR Mario (I said old school! 3D is NOT old school!)..

Enter Sackboy. He’s a boy, made of, wool…. So, shouldn’t he be called Woolboy, I.. he just doesn’t look like a sack. Is it because some sacks are made of wool, what’s going on?

I guess the name Sackboy came from Media Molecule’s prototype character, which more resembles a Sack.. Its sad when you dwell over this philosophy though, its as if two parents had a boy named Steve, then Steve died, so they called their next son Steve in his memory… The name is a cruel, harsh curse, bestowed upon him. He is nothing more, than a living shadow.

Grim shit LittleBigPlanet, grim shit.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXp4ednGYcc

Ugh, regardless, Sackboy is a cute, little thing. Thats how I describe him. He’s, not even meant to look like anything, except a crude representation of man. A small man, therefore he’s a boy… No, what he definatly DOES represent is the explosion of vinyl figures and adorable plush / handmade toys which have emurged around the world. Sackboy is the kind of guy who wouldn’t look out of place in Afflecks Palace. In the 80′s, it was little girls with a hidious amount of decoration (Like Strawberry Shortcake), in the 90′s it was big eyed animals and cartoon characters (Like the Powerpuff Girls), now, its little things made out of wool…

For two years or three (The wait for this game was so long, I’ve forgotten how long it was) I was pissing myself over this game, not for the platforming, but for the extensive amount of level creation tools made avalible to the player. This was certainly exciting, what kind of incredible shit could we see emurge onto, a global, game creation network? Would it be like the underground days of The Games Factory and VCade again!?

Shame I havn’t bothered to give it a try. What I immediatly remembered the moment I stepped into the level creation world, was that, I needed an insane amount of time in order to create something worth any form of recognition. I’m talking World of Warcraft time. So I steered clear. For me, the time and place for creating games was Games Factory, I must have wasted years just on that.

Even if you dont create levels though, there is a giant, quirky game for you to play. The moment you enter level one, there are feats and obsticles for you to………. Haha, look, Sackboy’s smiling, how cute, oh is he, y.. yes! He’s waving! Hello!

Once you get beyond making sackboy bounce around for about 2 hours, you actually discover.. omg, he’s on this planet, full of stuff.. you have to get the… stuff… then Sackboys happy. What a beautiful metaphor, what marvelous social commentary. We’re all just Sackboys…… we’re all just searching for stuff to fill that void within us.

Grim shit this LittleBigPlanet, grim shit.

It was the late 90′s, a huge boom in revolutionary new gaming was emurging in the console market, but with a Playstation costing almost £500, I was left with my second-hand Amiga. A virus infected the majority of my games and I was left in the dark, with only a handful of games I could entertain myself with, each of them several years old.

My fortune took a U-turn though, when the next xmas, my parents invested in a new PC for general usage. For months, I’d entertain myself with Nick 3D movie maker, however one afternoon, my uncle arrived with a multitude of games to share with my brother. As I fought to use Nick 3D movie maker once again, I couldn’t shake my uncle and my brother playing Doom, and Death Rally together.. But then, they launched a game which blew me away.

Destruction Derby 2 was a twenty thousand polygon orgasm stock racing explosion of crazy. The PC pumped out graphics I only dreamt of seeing if I should own a Playstation. Not only could you drive your car in full 3D, but it would sustain heavy damage, crushing your car as if it were made of tin, sending stray polygons all across the road like totally homo digital confetti, something competitors still have trouble figuring out to this day, (Cough, Gran Turismo 5, Cough).

Click to buy on iTunes

Not only this, but my uncles cracked PC edition, installed on the hard drive, would not recognize what CD it was trying to play music from, so we’d slip in our favorite band of the times, The Prodigy, and rave the fuck up. You know what I’m talking about, we’d have our own soundtracks to these games, something thankfully console developers have noticed, making this a core feature on consoles like the Xbox 360.

The Prodigy -- Music Reach [1/2/3/4] (Hosted by Dabest.ru)

The highlights of the game for me was grabbing air either in the canyon or the ring smash on expert difficulty, jumping in there full acceleration with the rookie 4-wheeler, aaand.. (SMASH) holy mother fucking shit, the cars come off the ground, I’m doing a flip in the air, this is fucking bonkers.

Wii is a bit of an puzzle. Its arrival prompted a scurry among competive hardware manufactures to declare the great motion controller war that awaits us next year with the arrival of Microsoft’s Natal, and Sony’s ball-on-a-stick. It also attracted audiences we never imagined would even touch a joystick without pissing themselves with fear. But while its placed itself in popular culture firmly, the console floods the landscape with the kind of bargin bin atrocities that would make the 1980′s Seal of quality hang its head in shame. But still, who needs bargin bin shitware when you’ve got Wii Sports.

The game reminds me of the kind of packages you’d recieve in the 70′s, when you bought a console which came with a couple of games and that was it. I’d imagine grannies refer to this entire package as the Wii, rather than the console itself. Once they’ve figured out how to get the damn thing together, you’re sorted, and playing a collection of A+ minigames. I’d honestly be surprised if the majority of Wii owners simply havn’t changed the gamedisc. Screw a Wii HD, just sell a stripped down Wii with Sports Resort built in, and scrap the Optical Disc drive. That’d sell, probably. Nah forget it, terrible idea.

Wii Sports is the only game ever created ever, where I managed to get my entire family involved. Sure, it was easy to sit back, watching Nintendo adverts and perceive them as typical commercial propaganda, but not with Wii Sports, it had that power. It was a short 10 minutes, but it was the best 10 minutes of family entertainment ever created. I tried my hardest, and was thrashed by my grandad. Its rare that a game gives my as much satisfaction in defeat as it does in success. But alas, Wii Sports isn’t the kind of game that’ll satisfy my intense gaming desires. Infact, the same could be said about the console itself, which is why Wii Sports is my highest, and only Wii game on my top 40 list! Sorry Nintendo fans, there are just way better games out there!

ROFLtrax is gone and no more! Its been a few months in the making, but Breakbit is finally here!

We launch with a magnificant lineup from our artists, possibly the finest lineup in all our history. With a wide variety, from breakcore to ambient, from old artists to new, I guarentee there’s something here that you’ll enjoy!

Most notably is the arrival of “Breakbit Volume 1“, our first compilation together as Breakbit. The introduction of our mascot, ‘Jax’ (Designed by Max Gilardi, AKA HotDiggedyDemon) is just the icing on the cake, as the album is jam packed full of over an hour of tracks from 15 of our artists, including newcomers ADSRe, glue70, Max Gall, Phatlip and ReeceA!

In addition, we have a debut album from another one of our newcomers, “what became” from Deckman Coss. As well as that, we have two fantastic albums from our veteran musicians, DM DOKURO with “16x Nostalgia” and Vaervaf with “Corkvein”. Plus, we also have a single from Breakmaster Cylinder, “SAY HELLO TO KLAUS”.

I think you’ll agree, this is easily the most exciting collection of releases we’ve ever kickstarted a new site with, so I highly encourage you to get listening right away!

As for the site itself, you can see that almost everything’s been tweaked and tuned. Although technically we don’t have a single huge new feature, the majority of the site has been retaylored for the future of the label. I want to tell you about a couple of particular changes.

1. Brand new front page

Ever since the very first version of ROFLtrax launched almost two years ago, while the site has evolved, the front page has pretty much remained the same, with a giant list of thumbnails linking to albums all over the site. Fantastic albums would fade away into obscurity, and news from artists would go unnoticed. The new Breakbit front page is jam packed full of information. While you can still find albums in the Latest releases panel, our Recommended Releases panel showcases the latest and best albums from each of our artists using a custom tailored equation, designed to showcase the very best, so great releases won’t go unnoticed. In addition, and in my opinion the most important update to the site, is the display of full stories like this one. Not only on important news, but blog posts from our artists too!

2. Welcome back Internet Explorer users!

Although we still highly recommend experiencing the site using a standards-compliant browser such as Google Chrome, Apple Safari or Mozilla Firefox, the site is now accessible using Internet Explorer. Using any modern PC, you can now visit the site and stream music, no problem!

3. Upgraded catalog

Although it doesn’t affect you, the visitor, too greatly, a great deal of time and effort has been taken converting our music catalog to meet standards. This means we can access information much easier when building pages, so the site is now much richer!

4. More power to the artists!

Up until today, virtually all information on the site has had to be entered by me, the site administrator, mrSimon. Well now I’ve started to implement easy tools to allow our artists to update information on the site. With this update, artists have virtually full control over their artist hub pages. New to the artist hub in this update is an enhanced Youtube panel which allows you to instantly watch artists latest videos. In addition, artists can how post a ‘Favorite Artists’ list, with infomation being pulled from Last.FM. Now, artist hubs will be much more personalized than ever, with a greater range of customization planned for the future.

5. Optimized for Facebook open graph

On the previous version of the site, we experimented with the newly introduced Facebook open graph powered “Like” button, on artists and albums, and this was highly popular! With the new Breakbit, albums and artists have been optimized for Facebook. So when you like an album or artist, they appear correctly on your Facebook profile, complete with album artwork! Clicking the link posted on your wall takes you straight to the album, where you can instantly stream!

While these are the biggest technical features with this update, I hope you’ll find that the cumulative polish every part of every page has received will satisfy. As we here at Breakbit look to the future, we aim to deliver a richer music experience for all our fans!

As we prepare a massive update for the site, I’ve taken a look at everybody on the label, the new talent coming our way, and focused on the big picture. With a fresh pool of artists, and a steadily rising standard of music on the site, I’ve decided to let a few people go.

Avalium was one of our first artists on the site, as ROFLtrax launched in late 2008. He began on the label as Girl A, and released the album Boxcutter, as well as regularly taking part in label compilations.

DJ Rilstix was also an early ROFLtrax artist, bringing with him an array of albums and music. You can stay up to date with his productions by following his Twitter account, or visiting his web page.

Airon Tokzic came to the label this time last year, with his quirky grime EP’s. Airon Tokzic now produces under the alias Bubba Ho-Tek, and frequently tours and performs in association with Machete Sound Promotions.

As ROFLtrax quickly evolved into something more serious in 2009, I put a block on mixtapes on the label, and removed my own. However, I do get the occasional request from long-time fans for those mixtapes. They were briefly avalible on Soundcloud for a few months, before I removed them due to the free accounts limitations..

However, I’ve recently discovered a service called “Mixcloud”, which so far, seems super alright!

You can sign up, and upload mixtapes, as long as you like to a reasonable degree. The best part though is its all legal, since the platform uses “PRS for music” to properly credit and promote commercial artist’s music.

You can check out last years mixtape below!

Well, my latest album, “There’s a party in my head and you’re all invited” came out just over a month ago, and the reception has been absolutely tremendous! The vibe I felt making some of these tracks were like discovering my skills at university during the “Your Mums Face” days again.

Thanks to everybody who decided to purchase the album! With your donations, I’ve gotten myself a funky pair of Bose earphones, so even if the neighbours are complaining, I can keep making music. I’ve always sworn to myself that any money I make from my music, will be invested so I can produce more in the future; well this is the first time I’ve truly been able to put that into practise (As opposed to WYSIWYG in 2007, where profits earnt me two pints of Fosters!). I think that house is where its at for me, so you’re going to be seeing more tracks like “Diamond Dreams”, “Cocktail Bar” and “CLIFFCORE” from me in the near future!

For the next few months though, I’m taking things easy in terms of production, I’m not rushing to get anything out. Instead, I’m working on two big things.

Firstly is something completely unrelated to ROFLtrax is something I’ve been working on and off on for the past 4 or so years, and incredibly hard on last year. Initially known as “WADEANGRY” on Sheezyart, I’m working hard on a point and click adventure game, which will debut on Newgrounds.com. Rather than handling music and animation as I’m known for, I’m instead taking the seat of the programmer, with a high level of polish, snappy speed and style my top priorities. I dont want players to fight with this game, and I dont want to patronize them with an endless array of tutorials, or alienate them with none. I’m working hard to make this simply the most fun flash-based point and click game.

As for the story itself, I’ve teamed up with Tom Gran and his crew of associates, for his bold presentation and quirky imagination. The game’s working title is “MORGAN QUEST” (Based upon an infamous forum thread of the same name), and focuses upon our hero, Morgan Freeman, who you control. We’re working to get this game out this year! Follow me on Twitter for more updates on this project.

Besides that, I’m working on an update for ROFLtrax.com too! We’re finally making the shift from out bespoke database solution, to the much more standard and effective XML. While I’m working my ass off reprogramming ALL our code to work with the database, the end effect will look pretty much identical to how it does now. BORING! So what’s cool about this? Well it means that I can basically grab any information about anything I want more often with ease. So you’ll immediately see features like ‘Recommended albums’ and ‘Sort by genre’, but more should arrive in the future.

In addition, I’m giving most pages a redesign. The most dramatic redesign comes with the front page. With artists like Vaervaf making posts on ROFLtrax way more often, I want to give blogs the exposure they deserve, so now full stories are displayed on the front page below the new content. As for promoting music, we find that most people who visit the front page either want to do one of two things. 1, use the “Gimme a track” box to instantly listen to music, or 2, jump straight to the newest material.

So now, the grid-based album display has been scrapped in favor of a carosel, and the “Listen NOW” box has been expanded with more songs. The carosel cycles through newly released albums, blog posts, new artists, and the latest albums from artists. The album and artist pages are also recieving an update too, with much better Youtube support!

Fingers crossed, the new site will arrive in the next month or two, with the debut of our latest entry to the “ROFL” series, “ROFLTHR3“! More infomation on that in the near future!

As for my next album though, I’m putting my focus back on a project I put on hold when I started to produce house music the beginning of this year, and thats “01-09: Best Of”

For those of you who dont know, “01-09: Best Of” is going to be the final collection from me of my 2001 to 2009 works. However, rather than a straight up collection of music like “01-09: Remixes” and “01-09: Lost Tracks”, “Best Of” will be a collection of brand new remixes of my favourite tracks. To me, this is my sign off, for my old style of music. I’ve found my element, and its glitchy funky house. I’ve always attempted to polish up my favourite tracks though, over a number of years, so once this albums out, that’s it, I wont be touching my old stuff ever again! Honest to god, ‘Looking’ and ‘Nowhere’ already sound like my greatest tracks ever made.

My original plan too was to release one more album called “01-09: Remixed”. I can now announce that this project’s been scrapped. I’ll instead be releasing “01-09: Best Of” with a bonus CD. I hope to have this album released around August to September this year.

Heres the albums preliminary track listing…

Have I missed any of your favourites out? Please leave a comment and let me know!

They’re my completely solid plans, the above things WILL happen. Besides all this though, I’ve been playing around with a few more concepts.

Recently, I ran into a couple of awesome Mega Drive remixes on Youtube. Looking around for information on how they were produced, I found the ULTIMATE GENESIS SOUNDFONT created by TheEighthBit. Using his incredible collection of sounds, I put together a couple of remixes of popular dance tracks, like “Music Sounds Better With You” by Stardust below.

The two remixes were received better than I had expected however, both online and at work. In addition, DM DOKURO has approached me with interest for some form of collaboration. So I’m now hoping to get some form of Mega Drive EP out, however I’m not certain yet. Which tracks would YOU like to be heard performed by a Mega Drive?

As for my new form of music I’ve laid down into, with tracks like “Cocktail Bar” and “Diamond Dreams”.. I’m hoping to return to this scene sometime in the near future. “CLIFFCORE” was an incredibly well received track / video, and its a track with even more potential in my opinion. Thats why I have begun to produce a full CLIFFCORE album! So far, I’ve got two entirely new tracks, featuring everybody’s least favourite Bachelor boy! One listener from Soundcloud compared one to the works of Daft Punk. I hope to at least deliver a new video for June/July, and at best deliver a CLIFFCORE album by the end of the year!

Here’s a PREVIEW!

[Audio clip: view full post to listen]

Well, you’re up to date now. Keep it real, and peace out.

SobmicSSBB gave us his album “Note” last year, delivering a variety of bizzare musical mashups.

As the label has become larger, and we attract a range of new diverse artists, the quality of work has leapt to a much higher standard. As a result, we at ROFLtrax are moving away from mashups such as those SobmicSSBB shared with the world.

You can continue to view his new work on his Youtube account over at http://www.youtube.com/sobmicssbb and listen to his album “Note” at http://www.rofltrax.com/sobmicssbb/note

In addition, we are no longer open for demos. Keep your eyes peeled for the next time we look for artists!

I’ve just released my album “There’s a party in my head and you’re all invited”. Its reception has been phenomenal. Thanks everybody who downloaded it and gave it a listen, particularly those who decided to donate. The money I made on the album are going to go towards a pair of closed studio headphones, so I can continue to make hot tracks like these. Sometime over the next few days, I’ll be releasing a ZIP version of the enhanced album (Including remixes and music videos) for download here on ROFLtrax.com.

“There’s a party in my head and you’re all invited” as a huge project, with just over a year of on-and-off work. For now, I’m done with music, I’m going to be taking a couple of months off so I can focus on my point and click adventure game for the web. However, I’m now going to start focusing on immediate new features for ROFLtrax.com.

Recently, we updated with a brand new look, functionality, and a slicker, cleaner layout. In ROFLtrax.com v4.1, I want to focus upon two major areas. Bonus content and compatibility.

For just under a year now, ROFLtrax.com has had preliminary support for streamable music videos, and downloadable ringtones. These have been blended within an album’s track listing. Hence, music videos were hard to find, and ringtones even harder. In the new update, Extras will be given various new places for people to find them. Music videos will be removed from track listings, and ringtones removed from tracks. They will both be found in the Extras tab. On album pages, the extras tab displays all extras contained in that album. On the artist page, the extras tab displays all extras related to that artists. In addition to music videos and ringtones, I hope the extras tab will give artists the ability to include any other additional downloads they want (Such as stepsheets, linear notes, wallpapers, project files, acapellas, etc)

Then there’s compatibility. With the arrival of the latest version of our site, we unfortunately had to deny users access if they are using Internet Explorer, due to a number of new features introduced which souly rely upon HTML5 features. Hence, about 10% of our audience (Based on 2009 stats) cannot currently access the site. The new version of the site will be cross-compatible with Internet Explorer, and web standards compliant browsers. In addition, I’m going to look into replacing our current Java/Flash sound solution, with a new Java/HTML5 solution, meaning the site will perform better, and be compatible with more devices. I’m also going to look into the possibility of creating a stripped down version of the site for the iPhone, and other mobile platforms. The mobile version of the site will be barebones, with access to music only.

They’re the big plans for this year on ROFLtrax.com! Besides that though, we’ve got a whole bunch of exciting new albums and artists heading our way, so keep your eyes peeled. Cheers!

In addition, I am now open to demos again. I hope to pick up one or two new artists. If you’d like to submit a demo, click the button above!

In my first dedicated album since ‘Your Mums Gay’ in 2007, I return with ‘Theres a party in my head and you’re all invited!’. Influenced by electronic artists such as Phonat, Pogo, Fake Blood, Vanguard, Todd Edwards and many many more, I take a sharp turn with my musical style, in this return-to-roots collection of tracks!

From the explosive ‘Foundation Day’, to the melodramatic ‘Snow Village’ and ‘Fiji Fantasies’, to the downright insane ‘Shut up’ and ‘The Stupidest Track I’ve Ever Made’, every track makes its presence well known. I personally consider this my 3rd ‘proper’ album, and my best work to date.

Thanks everybody from ROFLtrax and Soundcloud who helped tremendously with this!

Hello there boys and girls. I’ve made a few more minor changes to ROFLtrax.com. Heres what they are!

Shaded background for most elements of the page. To better highlight and divide sections of the page, I’ve layered up the shaded background. I hope things are clearer to use now, particularly in the New/Blog tabs on the front page, and the ‘Latest’ tab on artist pages.

Various artists page now displays all remixes. On the ROFLtrax collaborations page, the tracks tab now displays all ROFLtrax remixes. Click here to see!

Front page “gimme a track” panel revised. The ‘gimme a track’ panel has been revised so it now only randomly selects music that has been released on ROFLtrax in the past 4 months. So now, only the freshest tracks appear on the front page, and active artists gain more spotlight. The ‘more tracks’ link has also been shrunk.

Artist page “gimme a track” panel revised. The ‘gimme a track’ panel has been revised so it now only randomly selects music that has been released on ROFLtrax in the page 3 years.

Artist page “gimme a track” now visible again for former artists. I’ve no idea why I had disabled it for artists no longer with us, so its back now! (e.g. The Debuter)

Artist page sidebar revised. Everythings split up now like the front page, with external links at the bottom with the share it bar. Its not perfect, but its better!

“Latest” tab only appears on artist pages if they have Twitter. If an artist doesn’t use Twitter, then the “latest” tab wont appear on their page, putting the spotlight back on their music. For instance, DM DOKURO’s page before displayed only 4 of his releases. Now by default, all his music is displayed. Click here to see.

Banner ads. Select albums now display banner ads near the top of the page. (e.g. mrSimon – WYSIWYG)

Bandcamp track downloads. I’ve now added support for Bandcamp for individual tracks. If you hover over a track for download on Bandcamp, it’ll point you in that direction, as iTunes links currently do. (e.g. Breakmaster Cylinder – Spasmodic Symmetry)

Fixed a bug causing unreleased or pulled tracks to appear in “gimme a track” panels.

Fixed a bug causing Bandcamp album downloads displaying an incorrect price.

Fixed a bug causing links to compilations on the front page “gimme a track” panel to malfunction.

Fixed a bug causing the front page footer to display incorrectly.

Keep your eyes peeled for my new album “There’s a party in my head and you’re all invited” sometime this week, a new album from Vaervaf in the near future, and an extra special release in the coming month or two from a top secret new artist to ROFLtrax, joining us from one of our affiliates!

Track 12 – Camomile

The rain has… moved on… The rain has… The rain-the rain has moved on…

Come along Peter!

Left a new day..

Here is.. Here is.. Lost!
Here is.. Lost! Lost! Here is.. Lost!
Here is.. Lost! A little lost! Here is.. Lost! A little lost!

The rain has moved on…

Lost! L-lost. New day.
And all that… L-L-Lost. This way….

Track 13 – Theres a party in my head

There’s a party in my head, you’re all invited.
I’ve got drinks and cocktails and cake. You’re all invited.
There’s a party in my head, you’re all invited.
I can play any song that you want me to play. I’ve got them all, we’ve got them all, you’re all invited!

Come as you are, by train by taxi by car.
It doesn’t matter how long, you’re going to stay.
This partys in my head, you’re all in my head. Together we’re eternal, whilst even alone.
And I feel like I’ve known you, even when the gust has blown, when you’re a name on my phone.

Theres a party in my head, you’re all invited.
Its all the best places that we’ve ever been, you’re all invited.
Theres a party in my head, you’re all invited.
I am the crowd in the peak of the night, this silence so loud, the darkness so bright.

Theres a party in my head. Everybodys here but I cant see you.
You stand aside me, you’re faded, an illusion. I’m not even sure that you’re real, but I know that we were, thats my conclusion.
I know that I failed you, and I know that you left me, but your smile lives on in the depths of my brain, haunting and taunting again and again.

“Snow Village”, both a nod to the Australian glitch musician “Pogo” and a tribute to the TV show “South Park” managed to make it onto the South Park official tribute site, celebrating the shows 200th episode. The remix appeared yesterday alongside only 4 other videos. Its performing moderatly well, considering how unusual and unexpected the style of the remix turns out to be.

You can view it by clicking the image to the right.

If you’ve not yet seen this “SouthPark 200 Mix” is a bit more energetic and technical compared to the regular version I posted on Youtube in January. I decided to pump things up, so the video would perhaps appeal to more people, and so we progressed out of the ‘dream’ feel of the original. As well as that, there’s a lot more character slicing going on, including some dialogue from Stan. This was all intended for the purpose of the SouthPark200 mix though, and my album still closes with the original, dreamier cut.

Its now most likely that the creators of the show, including Matt Stone and Trey Parker might end up seeing this video. I hope to god they’re impressed, and that they understand the perspective I’m trying to view Snow Village from. I love the show, I’m dead proud of this track and I hope they are too.

“Snow Village” and the SouthPark200 mix will be available to download as party of my album “There’s A Party In My Head, And You’re All Invited”, which’ll be released later next week.

I’ve performed a small site update today. Here’s whats changed.

Affiliates tab on front page. I hope to increase site awareness as well as others through the affiliates tab. If you would like to become an affiliate, please leave a comment!

Front page alterations. As not too much blogging has yet happened, I have increased news topics from 1 to 2, and decreased blogs from 6 to 4, on the front page’s sidebar.

Replaced “AddThis” with “ShareThis” on album and artist pages. The service isn’t integrated quite as well as it could be, but I hope to refine the widget in the near future.

Cleaned the ‘ROFLtrax Collaborations’ page (Previously known as the ‘Various Artists’ page). The page strips away the standard artist sidebar, as well as adds a unique tab for collaborated tracks.

Fixed a bug causing songs in ‘Gimme a Tune’ not to shuffle. A bug which remained in place for a month has now been fixed. Tracks on both the front page and artists page are once again random. My sincere apologies.

Fixed a bug causing ‘Gimme a Tune’ to appear on artist pages if an artist has no songs.

Header revisions. ‘View all’ has been removed from the drop down lists. ‘Compilations and Collaborations’ has been moved to the artists menu.

If you know of any bugs, or you would like to see any new features, then please leave a comment!
